How To Make A Ferengi

Page 4 - Rotating parts and adding noise

Our Ferengi is nearly done. Two thing are basically left: Reposition the nose and make the new images of the image look like they belong there.

04a. - If you look closely at the image you'll notice that Quark's nose is slightly out of line with Tom's eyes and mouth. The nostrils should be slightly rotated to the right. First thing to do is use the Lasso tool and draw around the nose. Then copy the image and paste as a new layer. Reposition the nose to over the original nose.

04b. - Click on Image>Rotate>Free Rotate. Make sure Direction is set to Right, the Degrees section is set to Free and 4.00. Also, make sure All layers is UNCHECKED and Rotate single layer around canvas center is checked. Click OK and the nose will pivot right. Clean up the surrounding area by erasing around the nose or soften the area around the nose.

04c. - Now the new nose and click on Adjust>Add/Remove noise>Add Noise to get the Add Noise dialog box. Generally, I use Gaussian - it gives, in my opinion, a more realistic consistent look, at 4 to 16 percent depending on the effect I want. In this case, I used 10% and our new Ferengi lives.

04d. - Finished
